Rainbow Favourites Day 1 - Red

Bec, from Lacquer Dreams, came up with this challenge, and you can read more about it here.

So today is red. I had a tough time choosing my favourite in this colour. I have lots of reds, and even though I don't wear them much right now, they're still one of my favourite colours. Trying to makes things easier, I came up with a top 3 favourites and I couldn't pick just one. :S My favourite reds are Kleancolor Chunky Holo Scarlet, Hits Ares and Nubar Vino. Nonetheless, the star of this post will be the Kleancolor red.

So here it is, in all it's mighty splendor:

I used 3 coats of it, just to be sure, because it was late at night and since it is a jelly I didn't want to take any chances, but I think 2 coats were enough. I really love all the sparkles, but unfortunatelly, the multichrome effect I see on the bottle doesn't show up on the nail.

I couldn't end this post without showing a photo of Ares and Vino, but please excuse the bad photo of Vino, this was way before I started to blog and I sucked at photographing nail polish. xD

Dirty Berry

Getting lazy here! xD Seems like I only post my manicures the day after I take it off. Which isn't a totally bad thing, since this way I can talk a bit about the duration of the nail polish, but moving on to more important subjects...

After my last haul I decided to try Catrice's Dirty Berry. Like I've said before it's a muted purple/lavender/lilac (never know how to define these type of colours) with some slight holographic effect. It truly is a beautiful colour and I was surprised by how much I loved it on my nails, since I'm usually a fan of darker colours.

It was my first experience with Catrice's nail polishes and I really liked it. They're somewhat cheap, have great colours, the formula on this one was very good, a bit streaky on the first coat but perfect on the second one. I never talk about drying time because I cheat! xD I can't stand still for too long and if I don't apply my Mavadry top coat, I'll surely end up with some smudged nails. Durability whise, I have to say that, for me, it was pretty good, I painted my nails on friday night and removed it yesterday night. The nail polish had no chips, just some major tip wear that I couldn't stand! But that's what you get when you have to do dishes and house chores every day.

Ok, pictures time! This is 2 coats of Dirty Berry in artificial light, no flash:

The dotting was made with Nubar's Purple Rain Glitter, it was my first time using a dotting tool and even if it isn't perfect, I was still very pleased with it. Here it is in detail (once again, excuse the ugly dry skin -.-'):

Next post I have some gradient manicure to show. In pink! D:

My new favourite nail polish!

Finally I can say I have a favourite nail polish! And guess what? It's by Nubar. I seriously love their nail polishes, they always have awesome colours with an amazing formula. And they laaaaaast! D: So much that I even have to take out the polish before it chips.

So this one is Elegant Indigo, Nubar describes it as a blackened blue, but I feel like the base colour is black with some tiny blue-purple duochrome shimmer, although from far away it looks like a dark metalic blue.
This is 2 coats, as always for any Nubar I own, and pictures were taken with artificial light, no flash.

Wore this to a Dream Theater concert this sunday, thought it was appropriate and it would go well with the whole DT theme.
I have to say the concert was magnific, best one I've ever seen, so I'll leave a bit of their epicness here:

Gray and flakies

Last week I received some nail mail, 3 Nubar (Reclaim, Elegant Indigo and 2010) and 1 Orly (Fowl Play). Some of them I already showed to you guys and today I'll be showing another one, Nubar 2010. This one is a flakie topcoat and it's absolutely gorgeous! I think I'm in love with it.

I wanted to layer it over some dark nail polish, so I could see the different colours of the flakies, but didn't know which one to choose. I tried it over black, blue, dark teal, green and gray, loved all the combinations but went with the gray this time.

Here are some pictures (pictures were taken in artificial light, no flash):

Here you can see all the different colours the flakies reflect

Nail polishes used: Nubar - 2010 and Risqué - New York

Once again, the Nubar's formula was excelent, easy application and the flakies were evenly distributed without any struggle, like in some glitters. In other hand, Risqué's formula was awful! It was too tick and goopy making it impossible to apply the polish in thin layers.

I really loved this manicure and I got some nice compliments for it yesterday, that was a first! xD I went to the usual take out place to get some food and the lady taking care of my order asked to see my nails and I just showed her my hand, all proud, and then she called all the other girls that work there to take a look too. It was pretty funny. Unfortunately it started peeling last night...it didn't last for long, just 2 days...and I blame you, Risqué!! ಠ_ಠ

Nubar - Reclaim, my first holographic nail polish

As the title says it, this is my first holographic nail polish, and if someone had told me, a few months ago, that soon I'd be wearing this I would have said "NO FREAKING WAY!!". Every time I looked at holograpic nail polishes I could not understand what people saw in them, they were too damn bright and sparkly, how could anyone like that? Then, after a while, I too started to fall in love with them and I really had to buy one.
This one was my first choice, but I already have Revvvolution by Color Club on the way and in April I'll be getting Ares, Dionisio and Hefesto by HITS. My holographic fever has begun...

 Here's some pics of Reclaim:
