3 Manis From The Vault

I do a lot of manicures/swatches that never end up on the blog. Sometimes I just don't like them that much, others I really don't think the photos are worth anything. When it comes to nails and photography, I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, nothing I can do about it...But then, there's other times that I just forget about a manicure or I'm not in a particular blogging mood and something that I absolutely loved at the time, ends up forgotten in my picture's folder. It's the case of these 3 manicures that I'm about to show you.

This first one, is over 1 year old...It's from April 2013! The nail polishes used are Shimmer Irene, Kinetics Paris Green and Kinetics Peach Pop.

Faço muitas manicures/swatches que nunca chegam ao blog. Às vezes não gosto muito delas, outras acabo por achar que as fotos que tirei não valem nada. Quando se trata de unhas e fotografia, confesso que sou um bocado perfeccionista...Mas outras vezes, simplesmente acabo por me esquecer de determinada manicure ou não me encontro com muita vontade de postar no blog e, mesmo que tenha sido uma mani que tenha adorado na altura, acabam por ficar esquecidas na minha pasta de fotografias. Este é o caso destas 3 manicures que vos trago hoje.

A primeira já tem bem mais de 1 ano...é de abril de 2013! Os vernizes usados foram o Shimmer Irene, Kinetics Paris Green e Kinetics Peach Pop.

These next 2 are from this past January, I wasn't blogging at the time. After these, I completely stopped taking photos of manis, and I even went through a period where I didn't do my nails, and even considered selling most of my stash. Thankfully, it was just a bad period and I still have all my pretty polishes. xD I guess we all have our ups and downs.

For this one, I used Kinetics Beige Anyway on my index, pinky and thumb (not pictured), Claire's Glitter Sand (no name in this one, but it's sort of a nude or rose gold) on the middle finger, and on my ring finger, I have a coat of Innisfree #85 Raspberry Yogurt, over Essence Iced Latte. The stamp on the index was made with Kinetics Velvet Asphalt and a BM-323 plate. I topped it all off with Kiko's Matte top coat.

As próximas 2 manicures, são de janeiro passado, altura em que não estava a postar. Depois destas, deixei completamente de tirar fotos às unhas e passei por um período em que não as pintava de todo, chegando até a considerar vender grande parte da minha colecção. Felizmente, foi só uma má fase e ainda tenho os meus vernizitos lindos todos. xD Acho que todas nós temos destes altos e baixos, às vezes.

Na manicure que se segue, usei o Kinetics Beige Anyway no meu indicador, mindinho e polegar (não fotografado), Glitter Claire's Sand (não tem nome, mas é uma especie de nude ou um dourado rosado) no dedo médio e no anelar tenho uma camada do Innisfree #85 Raspberry Yogurt, por cima do Essence Iced Latte. O carimbo no indicador foi feito com o Kinetics Velvet Asphalt, usando uma plaquinha BM- 323. Finalizei tudo com o top coat matte da Kiko.

Finally, in this mani, I used Kinetics Velvet Asphalt on my index and thumb (not pictured), the base colour on my middle and ring finger is Catrice Sold Out Forever and the stamping was made with Velvet Asphalt and Signature Wine, both from Kinetics, and a DRK-B plate. On my pinky, I have Kiko 645.

Finalmente, nesta manicure, usei o Kinetics Velvet Asphalt no indicador e polegar (não fotografado), a cor de base no dedo médio e anelar é o Catrice Sold Out Forever e os carimbos foram feitos com o Velvet Asphalt e Signature Wine, ambos da Kinetics, e uma placa DRK-B. No mindinho tenho o Kiko 645.

And I just realized this was a lot of Kinetics! xD It wasn't my intention that this brand would be the center of attentions on this post, but I guess I do wear them a lot. They always have nice formulas and most of mine are one coaters, so I also use them for stamping.

So, after all these photos, which one of these manis you liked the most? I really can't choose, I loved them all.

E acabei de me aperceber que usei muitos Kinetics! xD Não era minha intenção que eles fossem o centro da atenção neste post, mas a verdade é que uso e abuso dos meus. Têm sempre uma fórmula tão jeitosa e a maior parte dos meus são extremamente pigmentados, por isso também os uso para carimbar.

Então, depois destas fotos todas, qual foi a vossa manicure preferida? Eu não consigo escolher uma, adorei-as a todos.

[ABC Nails] E is for Esmaltes da Kelly

Yes, I am 1 day late, but yesterday I got home so tired, tried to take photos of my manicure in my usual set up, and all the photos came out looking like crap! So I just gave up, decided to wait for today, try with some natural light, and started watching Penny Dreadful.

OMG! I got addicted to it fast! The story is so mysterious and the characters so complex that I just had to watch all the episodes that are out so far. I'll leave you the trailer if you want to check it out:

Sim, estou 1 dia atrasada, mas ontem cheguei a casa tão cansada, ainda tentei tirar fotos à manicure, mas no sitio do costume, com a luz habitual, as fotos ficaram uma valente cagada! Desisti, decidi esperar por hoje e tentar com luz natural, e enfiei-me na cama a ver uma série nova, Penny Dreadful.
OMG! Viciei-me depressa! A história é tão misteriosa e as personagens tão complexas, que tive de ver todos os episodios disponiveis, assim de seguidinha. Vou deixar-vos o trailer, se quiserem ver:

But that's not why I'm here today, so lets move on to the nails.

As you all know by now, this is a challenge I'm doing with Maggie, from Maggie's Nails, and Rosana, from Eternal Feelings, and this week we're doing a brand that starts with E. I choose Crying Wolf by Esmaltes da Kelly.

Esmaltes da Kelly is a brazilian indie brand, and it's creator, Kelly, has beautiful nails, impeccable taste and makes the most gorgeous nail polishes. I only have Crying Wolf in my collection, but boy, I wish I had them all.

Crying Wolf is a multicoloured glitter polish, in a dark purple jelly formula, The glitters in it are quite small, but that's exactly what I love about it. It's happiness in a tiny bottle! (I have it since last year, and at that time her bottles were quite small, I think they're about 5ml) I even took some bottle shots this time.

Mas não é para falar disto que estou aqui, vamos mas é falar das unhas.
Como já sabem, este é um desafio que estou a fazer com a Maggie, do blog Maggie's Nails e com a Rosana, do blog Eternal Feelings, e esta semana estamos a postar uma marca que comece com a letra E. Eu escolhi o Crying Wolf da Esmaltes da Kelly.

Esmaltes da Kelly é uma marca indie brasileira, e a sua criadora, a Kelly, tem umas unhas lindas, um gosto impecável e faz os indies mais bonitos de sempre. Só tenho o Crying Wolf na minha colecção, mas o meu desejo era tê-los a todos, mesmo.

O Crying Wolf é um verniz de glitter multicolorido, numa base jelly roxa escura. Os glitters que o compõem são relativamente pequenos, mas é por esta mesma razão que gosto tanto deste verniz. É a felicidade num frasquinho pequenito! (Tenho-o desde o ano passado, na altura os vidrinhos da Kelly eram assim pequenitos. Acho que rondam os 5ml) Até tirei fotos ao frasquinho, desta vez.

Here I layered 1 coat of it over Kiko 334:

Nas fotos, usei 1 camada do Crying Wolf por cima do Kiko 334:

 

Crying Wolf is packed, and I really mean PACKED, with glitter, so it's formula is quite dense and a bit tick, but, fortunately, that doesn't make it hard to apply. I used it before, by itself, in 3 coats (no photos of that, sorry, it was a long time ago) and I think it looks best layered over a similar colour. The only complain I have about this nail polish is that it eats top coat like crazy. I had to use 3 coats of Seche Vite to smooth it out, that's just too much! As a result of that, I got some shrinkage close to my cuticles.

On my ring finger nail, I used Ruby Wing Wanted Dead or Alive (review on that coming soon), and then stamped over it, with Kiko 334, using my Moyou Pro Collection 02 plate.

Este verniz está carregadinho de glitter, e quando digo isto, é mesmo CARREGADINHO com glitter! Por este motivo, a sua fórmula é bastante densa e um bocadinho grossa, mas, felizmente, isto não o torna difícil de aplicar. Já o usei sozinho antes, com 3 camadas (desculpem, mas não tenho fotos...já foi há bastante tempo atrás) e acho que fica mais bonito assim, por cima de um verniz de cor similar. A única queixa que tenho do Crying Wolf  é que come top coat como louco. Tive de usar 3 camadas de Seche Vite para ficar lisinho, como gosto, e isto é simplesmente demais! Como resultado, o top coat fez com que o verniz encolhesse um bocado, junto às cutículas.

No meu anelar usei o Ruby Wing Wanted Dead or Alive (revisão deste para breve), que depois carimbei, com o Kiko 334, usando a minha plaquinha Moyou Pro Collection 02.

Por hoje é tudo, não se esqueçam de ver o que a Maggie e a Rosana escolheram para esta letra.

I'm still here! I've been a very bad blogger lately, so thanks to all of you who stuck with me.

Today I won't be showing you one polish or some nail art I did, I'm going t be showing you lots! One of the reasons I don't post as much is that I've become overwhelmed with the amount of old swatches and manicures I've done, that never saw the light of day this in the blog, I find it hard to not post the new stuff I do, but then I end up not posting at all because I know that I have lots of old photos that still need some editing and posting...So, today, I finally decided that I should just post them all (or almost all, saved some reviews and manis I thought deserved more than just one photo).

Ainda ando por aqui! Tenho sido uma péssima blogger ultimamente, por isso agradeço a todas as que continuam deste lado a ler-me.

Hoje não vos vou mostrar apenas um verniz ou nail art, mas sim vários! Uma das razões por que não tenho postado ultimamente, é precisamente por ter muita coisa atrasada e por isso fico sem saber para onde me virar. Autumn Tribal Mix & Match

Finally, here I am to show you a bit more of the tribal nails I used for my header!
I've been wanting to do these for so long now, but I knew it would take me quite a bit of time to get these done, and like I said before...I'm really lazy sometimes! xD Anyway, I was bored and watching Doctor Who the other night (just started watching it), when I decided it was time to try it. I had no idea of what I wanted to do, or how, all I knew was that I wanted to use these exact colours, so I just picked them up, and went with the flow...

Finalmente, cá estou eu para vos mostrar mais um pouco das unhas tribais que coloquei no cabeçalho do blog! Era algo que queria fazer já há algum tempo, mas sabia que era coisa para demorar, e como já disse antes...às vezes sou mesmo preguiçosa! xD De qualquer maneira, no outro dia à noite, estava eu aborrecida e a ver Doctor Who (estou mesmo a começar a ver), quando decidi que era este o momento para experimentar. Não fazia a mínima ideia do que queria fazer, nem como, só sabia que queria usar estas cores, então peguei nelas e deixei-me levar pela imaginação.

Kiko 346 - Kinectic Dawn Tea - Marylins 109 - Kiss Black Striper

I started by doing the tribal pattern on my ring and index finger, I felt like I should stop there and do something different on my other fingers, or I'd risk thinking it was too much and not liking it in the end...I added some random dots on my pinky (not too happy with those, they could look better) and a gradient on my middle finger and thumb. I didn't follow any tutorial for the tribal, but Lucy, from Lucy's Stash, has a great one for this kind of gradient here.

Comecei por fazer o padrão tribal no meu anelar e indicador e achei por bem parar por ai e fazer algo diferente nos restantes dedos, ou correria o risco de achar que tinha sido demais e não gostar no final...Adicionei umas bolinhas  à sorte no mindinho (não estou muito satisfeita com estas, acho que poderiam estar melhores) e um gradiente no médio e polegar. Não segui nenhum tutorial para o tribal, mas a Lucy, do blog Lucy's Stash, tem um óptimo tutorial para este tipo de gradiente aqui. 

It's not perfect, I can see some flaws, but all this was done with a simple striping brush and a dotting tool, and I'm not too great with either of those...Also, my top coat (I used Better Than Gel Nails by Essence here) decided that my mani was missing some bubbles here and there, not good... -.-'

Não está perfeito, consigo ver umas falhinhas mas isto foi tudo feito com um pequeno pincel de nail art (daqueles de fazer riscas, por incrivel que pareça, não sei o nome em português) e um boleador, e eu não sou muito boa com nenhum destes instrumentos. No final, o meu top coat (usei o BTGN) decidiu que faltava, na minha manicure, umas bolhinhas aqui e ali... -.-'

Here's a bonus photo of my right hand, I only did the gradient there, as that was simple enough for me to do with my left hand. By the way, this and the header image (photo of the left hand, but mirrored) where taken in a Blanco fitting room, with a gorgeous top I found there! And no, I didn't buy it...

Aqui têm uma foto de bonús da minha mão direita. Só fiz o gradiente nesta, já que era simples o suficiente para ser feito com a mão esquerda. Já agora, esta e a foto do cabeçalho (que é da mão esquerda, mas está espelhada) foram tiradas num provador da Blanco, com um top lindo que encontrei por lá! E não, não o comprei...
