[ABC Nails] N is for Nerdlacquer

Good evening, everyone! Hope you had a great weekend.

So here I am, with another post for the [ABC Nails] challenge that I'm doing with with Maggie, from Maggie's Nails, and Rosana, from Eternal Feelings.

Today's nail polish is quite special for me, it's my favourite out of my entire collection, and was my biggest lemming for the loooongest time. It's also the most expensive nail polish I have in my stash, and it cost me 18€, about a year and a half ago.

Apparently, there's a lot of controversy around Amanda, the creator of Nerdlacquer, at the moment. I had no idea of what was going on until now, that I just checked her Google+ profile. If I'd knew beforehand of what was going on, I would have chosen another brand for this letter...which is sad and such a pity, since she makes my favourite indies of all time and I still want so many more of her creations, but after reading what I read, I'll hold on to my money and refrain from buying from her.

Anyway, take a look at this beauty, called All of Time and Space, inspired by one of my favourite TV shows, Doctor Who (just finished watching the latest episode and omg! it just keeps getting better!).

As you can see in the photos, All of Time and Space is a lovely seafoam green, with lots of silver glitter and with some magenta also thrown in the mix. It also has a very pretty silver shimmer. I, absolutely, love everything about this nail polish! The harmony between the chosen colours for the glitter, the way that it applies onto the nail (here I have 3 coats that apply like butter) and how it looks on my skin tone. I can't say one bad word about it!

Combined with All of Time and Space, I have 2 coats of Andreia 18, that I stamped with Kiko Mirror in silver, using a SA-03 plate, on my ring finger. On my pinky, I dotted 2 different sized dots, using the same Kiko and a dotting tool.

And this is it for now, hope you guys have a wonderful week! <3

My best stamping yet! (and possibly photos too :P)

Hi everyone!

I got a new camera!! How exciting is that? :P Well, maybe not for everyone, but to me it definitely is! The one I was using belongs to my brother and he wants it back by Christmas, so my boyfriend told me he would get me a new one for Christmas. But, I guess xmas came earlier to me, because we found the camera I wanted for sale and a lot cheaper than everywhere else and he bought it for me!! Isn't he sweet? :3

I wasn't going to post this mani now, as I have a TON of late posts to do, but I really had to share these new photos with you guys, so sorry if you'll see different kind of photos after this post.

Now onto the manicure!

For this, I used 2 coats of Andreia #19 and then stamped it with Hits Cutie Pie and Konad m57.

I am loving the duochrome stamp over the black, it looks so cool and I keep waving my hands around to see all the pretty colours. *-*

What do you think of it? And how about the new photos? Improvement or not so much?

Who knew...

...that Barielle Elle's Spell could be layered over black? I surely didn't and I would have never thought of it if it wasn't for a post at PAA! Skye (hi, Skye!! xD), brought this to everyone's attention and I just had to try it!

I used 2 coats of my favourite black (Andreia 19, just because it's so easy to clean up), and dabbed Elle's Spell on my tips, with the exception of my ring finger that shows 2 coats of it over the black. Once again, I finished it all with Kiko's matte top coat. I just love me some matte flakies! :P

31 Days Challenge #9 - Rainbow

This one was easy, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

I started with 2 coats of Purple Professional #32, then, on my accent nail, I placed some striping tape and then painted each remaining space with the rainbow colours. For this I used Kiko 334 (2 stripes), Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Good to Grape, O.P.I Fly, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Limewire, Sally Hansen  Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, Basic #291 and Andreia #40 (2 stripes).

Some stripes don't look perfect, but I'm happy with this, I think it looks cute! xD

Nail Care Challenge #2 - Cuticle Care

And it's already week 2 of our nail care challenge, time is going by so fast lately! I feel like I don't have time to do all that I want...but let's get on with this week's topic.

I have to be honest, I'm lucky with my cuticles! I neglect them sooooo many times...it's sad, but I only remember they're there when they start to dry out. xD So, I'll just post a photo of what I have and how I am supposed to be wearing them. Here we go!

Jandaia Cuticle Oil - this one I TRY to apply it after doing my nails. We all now acetone isn't a really good friend to our cuticules and dries them out if you aren't careful, so I try to apply this oil every time...but that doesn't really happen, I forget about it most of the times. xD It does its job, like all oils it can take quite a bit to be completely absorbed.

Granado Cuticule Balm - all of the Granado products I'll be showing were a gift sent by the mother of my dear friend Leticia, she brought them with her when she came to visit from Brazil. This balm is amazing! You're supposed to put it in your cuticules 2 to 3 times a day and lazy me only does it once every other day,  but I guess that's enough for me. It really moisturizes my cuticles and it's completely absorbed in a few minutes. You don't have to sit around waiting for it to go away or anything like that and it won't leave any residues between your cuticule and nail like so many other balms.

Granado Cuticule Cream -  this one is supposed to soften your cuticules so the removal process is easier. I don't cut my cuticules, but I use this whenever I want to push them back a bit, and that happens once a week or so.

Essence Studio Nails Fast Cuticule Remover - MIRACULOUS cuticule remover! Best one I've ever tried, it removes all excess skin in a few seconds! I tried this on my boyfriend today, he has horrible cuticules and he bites his nails, so I asked him to try and fix them a bit and he let me do it. His hands looked soooo much better after a good cuticule clean up and some nail filing. If this did wonders to his cuticules, it really is miraculous. Ah! I use this every 2 weeks.

Andreia Cutile Remover - Do not like this one, does nothing to me...

Apart from all these I have tried Mavala's Cuticule Remover and that one is ok, it does it's job well, I had no complains, but it's so expensive that I stopped buying it.

Guess this is all for now! Don't forget to check all the other girls' posts. ^^

Rainbow Challenge Day 3 - Yellow

I like yellow on me and I just found this out recently, when I got a neon yellow for review. I used to think it was one of those colours I would never wear and I bought one just to use in nail art.

This is what I had on my nails when I decided to enter this challenge, so I've been saving this photos to post on this day, as I only have one more yellow and it was posted here already.

I did this manicure for one of the portuguese FB groups, the theme for that week was animals and I came up with an owl. xD

This is 3 coats of Mellow Yellow by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear, topped with another 2 coats of Whimsical by Revlon. That's a lot of coats, but moving on to the photos:

For this I used:
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow
- Revlon Whimsical
- Revlon Colorstay Coastal Surf
- Eyeko Rain
- Andreia #19
- Dotting tools
- Head pin
- Nail art brush
- Paper reinforcements

Holographic gradient

HAH! 2 posts on the same day, bet you weren't expecting that! xD I just couldn't wait to show this gradient I did yesterday.

I broke a nail, on my left pointing finger, really short and I'm not used to having nails this short, so I had no idea of what to do with them...I painted them a light pink at first, but hated the washed out look and took it all off, then I think I spent quite an awful time trying to choose some colours that would look good together, I knew I wanted to do another gradient, but this time I wanted to do it with 2 completely different colours.

I started with 2 coats of Andreia #45 and sponged it with Up Colors Verde 360º, following this tutorial for a smooth transition both of them. Since Andreia #45 isn't holographic, I layered a coat of Hefesto over my gradient.

I really love how this turned out, so sweet and cute and probably one of my favourite manicures I have ever done. What do you all think? Better than my last one, no? xD

Rainbows! Rainbows everywhere!

Eeek! What have I done? xD

A while ago I ordered some cheap nail art brushes from Deal Extreme and after 3 weeks of waiting, they finally arrived on friday, but I had no idea of what to do with them at the time. Then, this past sunday, I was bored and saw that one of the FB groups I'm in is having a weekly "contest" and this week's theme was rainbows! I wanted to take part in it and it was also a great excuse to try out my new brushes and also get me out of my confort zone.

After going through my nail polish stash, trying to pick some colours, I realized that, in 109 nail polishes, I didn't have any oranges or a light blue that I could use for the sky! That left me no choice but to mix my own and that was a completely new experiencie for me. It went kind of ok, but the formula of my base colour sucked balls! xD Seriously, it was the hardest thing ever to apply.

Here are all the colours I used:

For the base colour I mixed:
  • Revlon Colorstay #170 Coastal Surf
  • Yolizul 164 (used it for the clouds too)

Yay! I did a rainbow with all 7 colours! xD
Here's what I used (following the colours of the rainbow from red to violet):
  • Andreia #40
  • The orange was a mix between the previous one with the yellow
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear #27 Mellow Yellow
  • Sally Hansen Hard as Nails #620 Limestone
  • Essence Colour & Go # 55 Let's Get Lost
  • Kiko #334
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure #409 Good to Grape
And here is how my rainbows looked like:

It looked cute, turned out better than I expected, but soooooo not my style! Obviously, I took it all out the next day...

For Audrey

Today was not a good day, I felt depressed all day and I really had to fight with  myself to not paint my nails black or something like that. After all, it was the first day of spring and that called for something bright and cheerful. I had a couple of new nail polishes to try, since I received some nail mail yesterday, and I chose to start with China Glaze For Audrey.

This is my first China Glaze and I'm already in love with the brand, I had full coverage with 1 coat (I still used 2) and the formula was great and smooth. I really loved it! And obviously I had to do something different on my accent nail, you know me, just a plain colour is too boring, so I painted it pink (Andreia #45) and then, using tape, added 2 stripes with For Audrey.
It was also my first time using Seche Vite and I was a bit scared to try it out, I heard a lot about how bad it can cause your polish to shrink and how there is definitely a learning curve when it comes to it. I have to say that I had no problem applying it and I even liked its strong smell.

Here are the pictures, taken under articifial light and no flash:

I'm really loving these 2 colours together, I'm glad I didn't go with black, that would have made me feel even more depressed and I felt so much better after doing my nails, the bright colours cheered me up!
